- Simultaneous interpreting
In simultaneous interpreting an interpreter is translating simultaneously with a speaker. This form of interpreting is used during events of high level with a large amount of participants. Simultaneous interpreting helps to shorten time of conducting an event.
For simultaneous interpreting special equipment is needed: headphones, microphones, booths. Professional simultaneous interpreting is conducted by two interpreters. Each works for about 20 minutes at a time and then hands over to the other, a system which is essential for correct simultaneous interpreting. This type of interpreting is the most complicated and highly paid.
